Film about the creation of Midsommarnattsdröm

Watch Stockholm Opera's film behind the scenes film about the making of an extraordinary ballet piece. (In Swedish)

Midsommarnattsdröm (Midsummer Nights Dream) is a newly created ballet made by choreographer and scenographer Alexander Ekman, an amazing young rising star in dance world, sought-after by the great Opera houses as well as Alicia Keyes and Madonna.

The music was composed by Swedish Harlem resident since 15 years, Mikael Karlsson, who has a great eclectic composer's career, spanning from contemporary classical music, operas, game music (Battlefield by EA Games) to collaborations with pop stars like Kleerup and Lykke Li.

"On stage are over 40 dancers, the Dahlqvist String Quartet, percussionist Niclas Brommare and pianist Henrik Mawe together with singer Anna von Hausswolff".

"We have a totally amazing music team. And we work incredibly much with the sound. We have Roger Bergstrom and Maria Gronlund on Live Processing. They sit with two laptops computers and what is called push controllers and distort and effect the sound from the musicians, the dancers, and from the auditory live, in surround. So it's extremely complicated, but it's fun!" says composer Mikael Karlsson.
